Workshops that exercise the imagination muscle. The two-and-a-half hour sessions are designed to encourage creativity and body/mind unity by utilizing concentration, communication and play. While developing use of character, content and context, the workshops are energizing and a lot of fun.
Most workshops begin with suggested warm-up exercises. Participants are encouraged to do whatever limbering and relaxing movements with which they are comfortable, such as, yoga, ballet, T’ai Chi, curls, etc. Then a variety of theater games are utilized to encourage interaction and trust. Eventually, specific scenes are suggested, with participants exchanging roles, or methods of approach. Participants often arrive at surprising, and occasionally enlightening, resolutions to dramatic conflicts.
Demian based his Doctorate in Education on leading more than 130 workshops in colleges and community centers. Demian trained with Carolee Schneeman (happenings) and Yvonne Rainer (dance) and participated in workshops with The Living Theater, The Open Theater and The Manhattan Project.
